Hezbollah commander Muhammad Hussein Surur martyred in Israeli airstrike

Surur had been a member of Hezbollah since 1986 and had led its aerial operations since 2020.

This attack followed a recent strike that killed another senior commander just days earlier. Throughout the week, Israel has conducted multiple airstrikes across Lebanon, resulting in significant casualties, including 60 deaths and over 80 injuries within a single 24-hour period, bringing the total to nearly 700 since Monday.

In retaliation, Hezbollah fired 175 rockets into northern Israel, most of which were intercepted. As tensions escalate, Israeli military officials are preparing for a possible ground operation, and Netanyahu has vowed to intensify strikes against Hezbollah. Meanwhile, international calls for a 21-day ceasefire have been made to facilitate negotiations and prevent a broader conflict.

The news of the Hezbollah Commander’s martyrdom was announced via Hezbollah's official Telegram account, which praised Surur's resistance efforts and celebrated his sacrifice.

Surur's father, Sheikh Hussein Surur, received the news of his son's martyrdom with dignity and consoled mourners, stating: "Abu Salih is gone, but by Allah's will, hundreds of Abu Salih will come." (ILKHA)
