In response to statements made by world leaders at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Mujahid emphasized the need for the international community to engage positively with Afghanistan's caretaker government.

In his remarks, Mujahid stressed that the UN should fulfill its mission by promoting better relations between Afghanistan and other countries, adding that the current stance of the international body hinders the nation's progress. "There should be a positive change in their policy," he said, urging the UN to go beyond its present position.

The comments from the spokesperson came after US President Joe Biden and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon addressed the issue of Afghanistan during the first day of the General Assembly session.

President Biden reflected on the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, describing it as a difficult but necessary decision to end America's longest war. He stated: "Afghanistan had replaced Vietnam as America's longest war. I was determined to end it, and I did. It was a hard decision but the right decision."

Meanwhile, President Rahmon of Tajikistan expressed support for Afghanistan's peace and stability, calling on the global community to intensify efforts to aid the Afghan people. He reiterated Tajikistan’s readiness to help its neighbor, stressing the importance of preventing a humanitarian crisis. "We support sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan, and I call on the international community not to spare any effort in helping the suffering people of Afghanistan," Rahmon said.

The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly commenced on September 24 and will run until September 28, focusing on various global challenges, including the situation in Afghanistan. (ILKHA)
