Turkish FM Hakan Fidan meets with UN Secretary-General on Gaza crisis
Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, alongside members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League Gaza Contact Group, met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The meeting took place in New York, where Minister Fidan is attending the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks focused on coordinating international efforts to address the escalating situation in Gaza, as violence continues to impact the region.
During the discussions, the OIC and Arab League representatives urged the UN to take a more active role in mediating peace and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. The meeting highlights ongoing diplomatic initiatives led by Türkiye and regional powers to address the challenges in Gaza through international cooperation.
