Mehmet Emin Sualp, a resident of Salkaya village, stumbled upon a stunning mosaic floor while digging holes to plant saplings on his property.

The mosaic, dating back to the Roman and Early Byzantine periods, is a single-piece masterpiece measuring 84 square meters. It depicts a vibrant scene of wildlife, including lions, mountain goats, ducks, hounds, deer, pheasants, boars, bears, geese, and even Anatolian leopards. The mosaic is also adorned with various tree and plant species.

The discovery has sparked excitement among archaeologists and historians, who believe that the mosaic is part of a larger archaeological site. Ongoing excavations have revealed the remnants of a church and a cellar in the area, further supporting the site's historical significance.

The landowner, Mehmet Emin Sualp, expressed his delight at the unexpected find. "I never imagined that I would uncover something so extraordinary," he said. "It's a privilege to be part of this historical discovery."
