According to South Korean authorities, one of these garbage-laden inflatables landed in the parking lot of the Seoul government complex on Friday.

The incident, found near the compound’s main entrance, prompted a significant emergency response, with police and firefighters securing the area. Military teams inspected the balloon for hazardous materials and safely removed it.

According to Yonhap news agency, the balloon contained various household trash items, including a piece of green plastic with a Pyongyang address. The balloon is believed to be part of a recent batch of inflatables sent by North Korea, primarily filled with paper and plastic waste, though no hazardous materials were found.

North Korea has repeatedly launched similar balloons carrying trash, including fecal matter, in retaliation for South Korea’s propaganda balloons. (ILKHA)
