Before departing for New York, Erdogan announced that he will address the General Assembly on Tuesday, the first day of the debates, focusing on key international issues.

“This year’s General Assembly debate will take place under the theme ‘Leaving No One Behind,’” Erdogan told reporters. He added that his speech would specifically address joint steps to counter the "genocide in Gaza" and to oppose Israel’s aggressive policies.

Erdogan also highlighted the significance of the upcoming Summit of the Future, to be hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, calling it "the most critical event" of this year’s session.

In his speech at the summit on Monday, the Turkish president intends to call for reforms in global governance, particularly concerning the UN Security Council and international financial systems. “I will highlight Türkiye’s contributions and support for efforts in this direction,” he stated.

Erdogan also plans to hold talks with other world leaders on the sidelines of the assembly, including discussions with UN Secretary-General Guterres. However, when asked about a possible meeting with US President Joe Biden, Erdogan noted, "There is no planned bilateral meeting with Mr. Biden yet, but we may come together on various occasions."

During his visit, Erdogan is also scheduled to meet with Turkish citizens living in the US, as well as engage with representatives from think tanks and the American business community. (ILKHA)
