Gas explosion in Iranian coal mine claims 19 lives
A gas explosion at a coal mine in Iran’s South Khorasan province has killed at least 19 people, with several others injured, officials confirmed.
The explosion occurred at approximately 9:00 PM local time on Saturday in one of the mines located near Tabas city. Authorities report that at least 13 miners lost their lives at the scene, while 17 others sustained injuries in the tragic incident.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site, and rescue operations are currently ongoing to search for any remaining survivors.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. South Khorasan province, known for its mining activity, has faced similar incidents in the past due to hazardous working conditions. (ILKHA)
