Hezbollah strikes Israeli targets in retaliation for airstrikes on southern Lebanon
Lebanese Hezbollah Movement launched a series of precision strikes targeting key Israeli occupation command centers, escalating its military response in support of Gaza’s resistance while defending southern Lebanese territories.
These villages have been under relentless Israeli aggression and airstrikes, but Hezbollah’s fighters retaliated with volleys of Katyusha rockets and missile attacks, significantly intensifying their operations throughout the day.
The military actions were detailed in a series of statements from Hezbollah’s media wing. The first attack, launched at 11:10 a.m., saw Hezbollah fighters targeting the Jal Al-Alam Israeli occupation site with artillery shells. This was followed by a second strike, where fighters launched a barrage of rockets at the air defense base of Israel’s Northern Region Command at Birya Barracks, in retaliation for attacks on southern villages.
In a third operation, Hezbollah bombed the positioning center of the 631st Reconnaissance Battalion of the Golani Brigade at the Ramot Naftali barracks. The assaults continued with a fourth strike targeting the Zar’it barracks, and a fifth operation hitting the Al-Sahl Battalion headquarters at the Beit Hillel barracks.
The sixth operation saw Hezbollah’s fighters targeting the air and missile defense headquarters at Kela Barracks. The seventh attack followed shortly after, with Hezbollah hitting a position held by Israel’s 300th Brigade at the Admit barracks. The eighth strike, launched in response to Israeli attacks on civilian homes in southern Lebanon, involved the bombing of the 210th Golan Division’s headquarters at Nafeh Base. Finally, in the ninth operation, Hezbollah bombed the newly established headquarters of the Galilee Division at Eilet HaShahar with volleys of Katyusha rockets.
Scenes of destruction caused by Hezbollah’s rockets were shared widely on social media, with footage showing fires raging across Israeli-controlled areas. Despite Israel’s attempts to suppress the resistance with large-scale airstrikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah’s rocket attacks continued unabated.
Israel’s military response was fierce. Beginning at 1:55 p.m., Israeli warplanes launched a series of intense airstrikes, targeting valleys between the towns of Ansar, Zarariyeh, Nmeiriyeh, and other regions. Powerful explosions were reported, sending thick plumes of smoke over the Nabatieh and Iqlim Al-Tuffah areas. Fires ignited in the surrounding forests, and civil defense teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames.
Yet, amid the airstrikes, Hezbollah’s missile attacks continued, demonstrating the resilience of the resistance. In a widely circulated video, a southern Lebanese child is seen calmly eating sweets on his balcony, seemingly unfazed by the ongoing Israeli air raids. The video symbolized the people’s trust in Hezbollah’s commitment to defending their land and lives.
Saturday also saw the martyrdom of Hezbollah fighter Abbas Mahmoud Saleh, known as Abu Hawraa. Born in 1978 in the southern Lebanese town of Adshit, Saleh was a dedicated resistance fighter. Hezbollah honored his sacrifice, emphasizing the ongoing struggle for Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the determination to fight Israeli occupation.
The events of Saturday illustrate the deepening conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, as both sides continue to exchange blows despite international calls for restraint. With each strike, Hezbollah sends a clear message of defiance and resolve, even as Israel escalates its military operations in Lebanon. The day’s attacks and counterattacks reflect the intensifying tensions in the region, with no clear end in sight. (ILKHA)
