Cholera outbreak in Sudan: Death toll rises to 348
The Sudanese Health Ministry has announced a concerning rise in the death toll from the ongoing cholera outbreak.
The number of fatalities has now reached 348, according to the ministry's statement.
The cholera outbreak has affected nine states across Sudan, with a total of 11,079 reported cases. Additionally, there are suspicions of dengue fever in five states, resulting in two reported deaths.
Heavy rains and floods that have plagued Sudan since June have created favorable conditions for the spread of cholera. The Sudanese government declared a cholera outbreak on August 12.
The ineffective functioning of the healthcare system in war-torn Sudan has exacerbated the challenges faced by people in combating the spread of infectious diseases. (ILKHA)
