Turkish Coast Guard rescues 96 irregular migrants off Aegean coast
The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 96 irregular migrants, including 41 children, off the coast of Izmir and Aydın, according to local authorities.
Following reports of rubber boats carrying migrants in the area, Coast Guard Command teams were dispatched to the scene, successfully rescuing 96 individuals. In additional operations conducted in both provinces, 62 more irregular migrants were apprehended.
In Izmir's Karaburun district, four suspected migrant smugglers were detained after being detected by an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. (ILKHA)
