Pezeshkian: Iran seeks stronger ties with Muslim nations
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the United States must demonstrate goodwill and change its behavior toward Iran, asserting that Iran will not tolerate bullying.
Speaking at a press conference, Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of national unity and collaboration between political factions to address economic challenges and sanctions.
During the conference, Pezeshkian responded to questions about his recent trip to Iraq, where he advocated for Islamic unity and greater cooperation between Muslim nations. "All Muslim countries should interact with each other easily," he stated, stressing the need for Muslim nations to cooperate and invest in one another.
On domestic policies, the president stressed the importance of resolving issues related to sanctions and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to enhance Iran's economic ties globally. He added that his administration aims to attract foreign investment and promote a free market to boost economic growth.
Addressing a question from Chinese state media, Pezeshkian praised China's role in reconciling Iran and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the strategic partnership between Iran and China. He also acknowledged imbalances in Iran's energy sector, stressing that his government is working to boost domestic production.
In response to Al Jazeera's inquiry about a recent missile attack on Tel Aviv by Yemeni forces, Pezeshkian rejected claims that Iran had supplied hypersonic missiles to Yemen, asserting that Yemenis have the capability to build their own weapons.
Pezeshkian also condemned the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, criticizing the targeting of schools and hospitals, while reiterating Iran's commitment to building stronger ties with Arab and Muslim countries, including Türkiye. He emphasized that Iran seeks comprehensive cooperation with Türkiye, calling it a "friendly and brotherly nation."
The president also supported initiatives to foster free-thinking forums in universities, emphasizing the need for equal access to higher education for people from underdeveloped areas. He reaffirmed Iran's commitment to international principles and stressed that the country reserves the right to self-defense against Israel.
As for U.S.-Iran relations, Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran will only engage with the U.S. if Washington proves its good intentions, emphasizing once again that Iran will never accept bullying. He also affirmed that Iran will continue to strengthen its ties with Russia, China, and BRICS nations.
On nuclear talks, Pezeshkian reassured that Iran has no intention of acquiring nuclear weapons but remains firm in opposing external pressure, maintaining that Iran’s rights must be respected in international negotiations. (ILKHA)
