The meeting, which brought together ministers from Muslim and European countries, was part of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group for Gaza and sought to push forward efforts for peace in the region.

The group includes countries such as Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, with Spain hosting the event. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez welcomed Fidan and other participants at his official residence, followed by discussions at the Foreign Ministry in Madrid, led by Spain's Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.
