From January to September 6, the DOH recorded 208,965 dengue cases, which is a 68 percent increase from the previous year. Unfortunately, 546 deaths have been attributed to dengue during this time.

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa assured the public that the DOH is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to address the rising number of cases. He emphasized the importance of collective action to combat the spread of dengue, particularly during the rainy season.

Dengue is a prevalent disease in the Philippines, and its incidence typically peaks during the rainy season due to favorable conditions for mosquito breeding. Stagnant water, open containers, and certain plants can serve as breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes.

The DOH urges the public to take precautions to prevent dengue, such as clearing stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and seeking medical attention if symptoms develop. (ILKHA)
