The sanctions include 10 individuals, six entities, and four ships, as part of Washington's ongoing efforts to pressure Tehran and Moscow.

The U.S. Treasury revealed that in late 2023, Iran and Russia signed a contract for the supply of hundreds of missiles. By the summer of 2024, Russian military personnel were reportedly trained by Iranian personnel on how to use Project 360 ballistic missiles. In early September 2024, Russia allegedly received the first shipment of these missiles.

In conjunction with these sanctions, the U.S. Treasury Department stated that international partners are planning additional measures, including restrictions on Iran Air’s operations in their airspace. They are also pursuing the identification of other individuals, entities, and ships involved in these transfers.

The U.S. Department of State has also imposed sanctions on three entities, including Iran Air, and blocked five ships linked to the transportation of Iranian weapons to Russia.

In a separate statement, the U.S. Department of State confirmed sanctions on Iran Air, accusing the airline of facilitating the transfer of weapons to Russia and supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and its Quds Force in purchasing sensitive Western goods.

These measures build on previous sanctions dating back to February 2024, October 2023, May 2023, and December 2022, all of which targeted individuals and entities involved in Iran-Russia cooperation. (ILKHA)
