India: At least 17 killed in Uttar Pradesh road accident
A tragic road accident in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, India, claimed the lives of at least 17 people, including children and women, on Friday.
The incident occurred when a van carrying a group of people was struck by a state transport bus on the Agra-Aligarh national highway. The victims were returning from a family ceremony in Sasni and heading to Khandauli.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Uttar Pradesh state government have announced financial assistance for the victims' families and the injured.
