Iran denies Western allegations of supplying missiles to Russia

In a statement released on Friday, the mission vehemently denied any involvement in supplying arms to Russia or any other party in the Ukraine conflict.

The Iranian mission condemned military assistance that exacerbates damage to lives and infrastructure in Ukraine, asserting that such actions are inhumane. Iran emphasized its stance against contributing to the conflict and called on other nations to cease their arms supplies to all parties involved.

This statement follows a UN Security Council meeting on August 30, where American, British, and French envoys accused Tehran of supporting Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine. Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, characterized these allegations as "baseless and misleading."

In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council’s President, Iravani rejected the accusations, asserting that they were unfounded and misleading. He highlighted that the supply of advanced Western weapons, particularly from the United States, has contributed to prolonging the war and harming civilians and infrastructure in Ukraine.

Iran has consistently dismissed Western claims of its involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reiterating its commitment to international obligations and calling for an end to the arms race fueling the ongoing conflict. (ILKHA)
