Türkiye's application for BRICS membership to be considered at upcoming summit
BRICS member states are set to consider Turkey's application for full membership in the association, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov announced to reporters on Wednesday.
"Türkiye has applied for full membership. We'll consider this bid," Ushakov confirmed, indicating that the matter will be discussed by BRICS leaders.
Turkish authorities submitted their application to join BRICS several months ago. The issue of the association's expansion, including Turkey's bid, will be a key topic at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, scheduled for October 22-24.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to attend the summit, where the decision on Turkey's potential membership will likely be deliberated.
The inclusion of Türkiye into BRICS, an economic bloc currently comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, could have significant implications for the group's global influence and geopolitical dynamics. (ILKHA)
