The devastating floods, caused by heavy rains in Yemen and the opening of dam gates by India in Bangladesh, have claimed numerous lives and left thousands homeless since early August.

In Yemen's Al-Hudaydah province, the death toll from the floods has risen to 95, as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc. Thousands of displaced individuals are struggling to survive, seeking refuge in tent cities in the Marib region, relying on the support of aid organizations.

In Bangladesh, the floods have claimed the lives of 71 people across 11 regions. The disaster was exacerbated when India, following the political unrest and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, opened dam gates, leading to widespread flooding. The floodwaters have not yet receded, and many families are forced to navigate by boat as their homes remain submerged.

The Hope Caravan Foundation has been actively providing aid to those affected in both countries. The foundation has delivered essential supplies, including food, medicine, and clean water, to hundreds of families in Yemen. In Bangladesh, despite the challenging conditions, the foundation managed to distribute food packages to families impacted by the floods.

Cengiz Kurtaran, President of Hope Caravan, spoke to ILKHA about the ongoing relief efforts. "In recent days, flood disasters have devastated communities in Yemen and Bangladesh. As Hope Caravan, we are committed to continuing our aid efforts in both countries. The situation is particularly dire in Yemen, where there are serious shortages of food, medicine, and clean water in the Marib region. In Bangladesh, we have also faced significant challenges, but we have successfully delivered food aid to the affected families."

Kurtaran emphasized the urgency of the situation and reiterated his call for additional support from philanthropists to sustain the relief efforts in both countries. He expressed gratitude for the contributions received thus far and assured that the foundation would continue its work in the affected regions. (ILKHA)
