The latest figures from the National Disaster Response Coordination Center, under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, reveal that Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali — three southeastern districts — are the most severely impacted, with 54 fatalities reported in these areas alone during the ongoing and unprecedented weeks-long flooding.

The disaster has affected nearly 6 million people across 11 out of Bangladesh’s 64 districts, resulting in significant loss of life, damage to properties, and destruction of crops.

According to recent reports, more than half a million individuals remain stranded in the southeastern and northeastern districts due to floodwaters. However, the situation is reportedly improving in several southeastern districts as the floodwaters begin to recede.

In response, authorities have deployed disaster response teams to conduct rescue operations, distribute relief supplies, and manage shelters for those displaced by the floods. (ILKHA)
