Protesters in Batman raise Ismail Haniyeh poster on Mount Mereto
A group of residents from Batman’s Sason district climbed to the 3,000-meter summit of Mount Mereto to unfurl a poster of Martyr Ismail Haniyeh.
The protest was in response to the CHP's removal of a poster of Ismail Haniyeh, which had been displayed in Gaziantep’s July 15th Square on Friday, August 30th. The removal of the poster, which had been carried out by CHP members, sparked widespread criticism across Turkey.
In a symbolic act of defiance, citizens from Sason climbed to the summit of Mount Mereto, where they displayed the poster of Ismail Haniyeh alongside the Tawhid flag. The group issued a statement condemning the CHP's actions and reaffirming their support for Haniyeh.
"We call out to the CHP mentality, which acts as a subcontractor for Israel. You could not tolerate the name of Ismail Haniyeh in Gaziantep and took down his canvas. But remember, Ismail Haniyeh is in our hearts, and we have hung his poster on the summit of Mount Mereto, where it will remain. His image is everywhere. We are all Palestinians, and we are all Ismail Haniyeh. Down with America and down with Israel! Long live Islam, and victory belongs to Allah," the group declared. (ILKHA)
