Yemeni armed forces targeted a ship in the Gulf of Aden, citing the ship's violation of rules prohibiting entry to Israeli ports, according to a statement from the Yemeni military on Saturday.

Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, announced that the operation was directed at the ship named GROTON. The military operation was conducted by Yemen's navy, missile, and drone forces, resulting in a precise and direct hit on the vessel.

"This is the second time we have targeted the GROTON, following an earlier attack on August 3rd," Saree stated. He emphasized that the Yemeni armed forces will continue their operations until Israel ceases its military actions in Gaza.

The Yemeni military action is a response to the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, following the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Palestinian resistance groups. The operation was a reaction to longstanding tensions, including attacks by Zionist settlers and Israeli authorities on Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Since the beginning of its campaign, Israel has imposed a near-total siege on Gaza, severely restricting the flow of essential supplies like food, medicine, electricity, and water into the region. To date, the Israeli offensive has resulted in the deaths of more than 40,000 Gazans, most of whom are women, children, and adolescents. (ILKHA)
