Turkish Coast Guard rescues 78 migrants pushed back by Greece
The Turkish Coast Guard has successfully rescued 78 irregular migrants who were pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities.
Responding to reports of migrants in life rafts off the coast of Izmir and Muğla, Coast Guard boats were dispatched to the area. The 78 individuals, who had been forced back by Greek authorities, were brought safely ashore.
In a separate operation, another 60 irregular migrants were apprehended off the coast of Izmir and Aydın. Additionally, three suspected migrant smugglers were detained in Izmir and Aydın.
The rescued migrants were subsequently transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. (ILKHA)
