Despite being downgraded to a tropical storm, the typhoon is still causing flight cancellations, train suspensions, and concerns about potential landslides.

The typhoon has already claimed at least six lives and injured over 120 people. As Shanshan moves east, authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant for landslides, flooding, and overflowing rivers.

Several cities in Japan have issued evacuation warnings due to heavy rainfall. Power outages are also affecting thousands of households, particularly in the southern Kagoshima region.

Scientists attribute the increasing frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall events in Japan to climate change. The country has experienced several devastating natural disasters in recent years, including landslides and floods, that have resulted in significant loss of life and property. (ILKHA)
