Gaza under fire: Five killed, numerous injured in latest Israeli airstrikes
A series of intense Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of five Palestinians and numerous injuries, according to local sources.
The bombardment primarily targeted the central and southern regions of Gaza, including Deir al-Balah and the Bureij refugee camp.
Israeli artillery heavily shelled Deir al-Balah and the Bureij refugee camp, while drones struck civilians near the Al-Anan Stadium in Deir al-Balah. This attack resulted in three deaths and injuries to dozens more.
In a separate incident, a child succumbed to injuries from an airstrike that occurred ten days ago in the Al-Batn al-Sameen area, south of Khan Younis. Rescue teams also recovered the body of an individual from the town of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis.
Additional strikes included an artillery attack on a home belonging to the Ayad family in the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
Since the onset of the Israeli offensive in October 2023, the conflict has claimed 40,334 Palestinian lives and left over 93,356 injured. Thousands are feared trapped under rubble, with emergency and civil defense teams struggling to reach them due to ongoing attacks. (ILKHA)
