Heavy rain warning issued for Eastern Black Sea region
The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a severe weather warning for the Eastern Black Sea region, cautioning residents of heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
Starting Saturday morning, the region is expected to experience significant showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the western and eastern districts of Giresun and Trabzon.
Rainfall in these areas is predicted to be exceptionally heavy, with expected precipitation levels ranging from 21 to 50 kg/m².
Coastal areas of Rize and Artvin may face even more severe conditions, with rainfall potentially reaching 51 to 75 kg/m² over a 12-hour period.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with heavy rainfall. This includes being prepared for potential flooding, waterlogging, lightning, landslides, localized hail, and strong winds.
The Meteorological Service advises the public to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and follow the guidance of local authorities. (ILKHA)
