Islamic Emirate bars UN special rapporteur from entering Afghanistan

The decision, announced by Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, is attributed to allegations that Bennett was spreading propaganda against Afghanistan.

Mujahid accused Bennett of misrepresenting the situation in Afghanistan to the international community by providing inaccurate and misleading information. "Mr. Bennett's travel to Afghanistan has been prohibited because he was assigned to spread propaganda in Afghanistan. He is not someone we trust. He is not in Afghanistan, and he is no longer permitted to come here. He used to exaggerate minor issues and propagate them," Mujahid stated.

Richard Bennett, who was appointed by the UN Human Rights Council as the Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan in April 2022, has been tasked with documenting human rights violations in the country. His reports have consistently criticized what he describes as ongoing human rights abuses in Afghanistan.

However, the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly dismissed Bennett's criticisms, asserting that his reports do not accurately reflect the current realities in the country. (ILKHA)
