Putin to visit Azerbaijan for official talks on regional and international issues
Russian President Vladimir Putin will embark on a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan starting Sunday, as announced by the Kremlin.
This trip marks Putin's first visit to the Caucasus country since 2018.
The primary focus of the visit will be to strengthen bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan and to address key regional and international issues. Discussions will include the ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with Russia aiming to position itself as a mediator.
The Kremlin also noted that the visit will conclude with the adoption of a Joint Statement by the heads of state and the signing of various intergovernmental agreements and documents.
As European countries seek alternatives to Russian energy supplies following Moscow's offensive in Ukraine in 2022, Azerbaijan's oil and gas resources have become increasingly significant. (ILKHA)
