The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported one fatality and approximately 20 hospitalizations due to the virus.

Patients, ranging in age from 25 to 65, exhibit varying degrees of illness, from moderate to critical conditions. The NCDC emphasized that all affected individuals had pre-existing health issues.

The virus, which cannot be spread from person to person, is primarily transmitted through mosquito bites. The NCDC warns the public to take precautions against mosquito bites, especially in areas prone to mosquito breeding.

There is currently no specific cure or vaccine for the West Nile virus, with treatment focused on managing symptoms.

Health officials are monitoring the situation closely and urging the public to be vigilant. (ILKHA)
