Ismail Thawabteh, head of the media office, revealed during a press conference at Al-Aqsa Hospital that the restriction on travel for approximately 25,000 patients and injured individuals seeking treatment abroad has significantly contributed to the death toll. The Rafah crossing, which is crucial for medical evacuations and the delivery of humanitarian aid, has been shut since May 7, following Israeli control measures.

Thawabteh condemned both Israeli authorities and the U.S. administration, attributing responsibility for the severe humanitarian consequences, including the obstruction of medical supplies, health delegations, and aid.

The Rafah crossing, located between Gaza and Egypt, serves as the primary conduit for transporting the injured and providing humanitarian relief to the enclave.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been conducting genocidal attacks against Palestinians in Gaza, resulting in nearly 40,000 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza health authorities.  (ILKHA)
