Turkish house sales rise in July, mortgages decline
House sales in Türkiye increased by 16.0% year-on-year in July to 127,888 units, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya were the top-selling provinces, while Ardahan, Hakkari, and Bayburt saw the fewest transactions.
Sales of mortgaged houses decreased by 20.9% to 11,496 units, accounting for only 9.0% of total sales. In contrast, sales of non-mortgaged houses surged by 21.7% to 115,592 units, making up 91.0% of all transactions.
First-time house sales climbed 28.9% to 40,784 units (32.1% share), while sales of existing homes rose by 10.8% to 86,304 units (67.9% share).
House sales to foreigners declined by 16.1% to 2,350 units (1.8% share). Antalya, Istanbul, and Mersin were the most popular destinations. Russia topped the list of nationalities buying houses in Turkey, followed by Ukraine and Germany. (ILKHA)
