Türkiye's trade sales volume drops 1.1% in June
The Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Monday that Türkiye's trade sales volume decreased by 1.1% in June 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year.
The decline was primarily driven by a significant 12.5% drop in the volume of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Additionally, the wholesale trade sales volume saw a decrease of 2.5%. However, the retail sales volume index showed a notable increase of 8.6% on an annual basis.
On a monthly basis, trade sales volume in June 2024 increased by 1.0% compared to May 2024. Within this period, the volume of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles rose by 0.8%, the wholesale trade sales volume also increased by 0.8%, and the retail trade sales volume saw a growth of 1.7%.
These figures highlight the contrasting trends within Türkiye's trade and retail sectors, with retail showing resilience and growth while wholesale and vehicle-related trades experience declines. (ILKHA)
