EU foreign policy chief calls for sanctions on Israeli extremist ministers
The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has called for sanctions against Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, labeling their recent actions as incitements to war crimes.
In a post on social media platform X, Borrell criticized Minister Ben-Gvir for advocating the cutting of fuel and aid to civilians in Gaza while the international community is pushing for a ceasefire. He also condemned the "sinister statements" made by Minister Smotrich, linking them to war crimes.
Borrell emphasized the need for the EU to consider sanctions against these ministers, stating: "Sanctions must be on our EU agenda."
This marks a significant escalation in the EU's stance towards Israel's hardline government ministers amidst ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. (ILKHA)
