Sudanese army repels major attack in Darfur
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) claimed to have successfully repelled a large-scale attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the capital of North Darfur on Saturday.
The intense fighting caused heavy casualties among the RSF, according to the SAF spokesman.
A joint force of armed movements allied with the SAF also confirmed fierce battles in the area, reporting significant losses for the RSF.
While clashes have reportedly subsided, the RSF continues to shell civilian areas, including markets and hospitals, leading to civilian casualties.
The conflict between the SAF and RSF has been ongoing since April 2023, resulting in a devastating humanitarian crisis with millions displaced both internally and across borders. (ILKHA)
