The latest attack, which occurred at a school in Gaza City, has reportedly killed more than 100 Palestinian civilians.

At approximately 4:30 AM local time on Saturday, the IOF struck a mosque inside Al-Tabaeen School during dawn prayers, hitting the site at least three times, according to a statement by OHCHR in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, carried by UN News. The UN rights office criticized the strikes, stating that they were "conducted with apparent disregard for the high rate of civilian fatalities."

An initial report indicated that the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 93 Palestinians, including 11 children and six women.

Since the conflict escalated on October 7, with Hamas-led operation on Israel that left 1,200 dead and 250 people taken hostage, the situation in Gaza has deteriorated rapidly. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, between October 7 and August 8, at least 39,699 Palestinians have been killed, and 91,722 injured. Over 90 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced, many multiple times.

Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), reiterated in a social media post on Saturday that schools, UN facilities, and civilian infrastructure should not be targets. He expressed horror at the repeated attacks, saying, "Another day of horror in Gaza, another school hit with reports of dozens of Palestinians killed, among them women, children, and older people."

"It’s time for these horrors unfolding under our watch to end," Lazzarini said. "We cannot let the unbearable become a new norm. The more recurrent, the more we lose our collective humanity." (ILKHA)
