Turkish Foreign Ministry welcomes efforts for lasting ceasefire in Gaza
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has released a statement commending the ongoing mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
The ministry expressed strong support for the initiatives undertaken by these countries to end the ongoing conflict and restore peace in the region.
"We commend the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States of America to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza," the ministry stated. The statement highlighted Türkiye’s endorsement of the proposals made by the leaders of these nations, emphasizing the importance of the points raised in their recent joint statement.
The ministry further underscored the significance of the three-phase plan outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2735, describing it as a solid foundation for achieving lasting peace in the region. The resolution, which was recently adopted by the UN, calls for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and the initiation of negotiations towards a long-term resolution.
In its statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called on Israel to reciprocate the constructive approach demonstrated by the Palestinians towards the ceasefire. "Israel must reciprocate the constructive approach of the Palestinians towards the ceasefire," the ministry urged.
The ministry also stressed the need for the international community to apply the necessary pressure on the Israeli government to ensure compliance with the ceasefire efforts. "The international community should exert the necessary pressure on the Netanyahu Government," the statement concluded.
Türkiye’s call for international cooperation and adherence to the UN resolution reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting peace and stability in the Middle East. (ILKHA)
