Philippines: Dengue fever surge hits Iloilo Province with over 3,000 cases reported
Philippine Health authorities have reported a significant increase in dengue fever cases across multiple areas in Iloilo Province, Western Visayas.
The surge in cases has been noted since early August, with a total of 3,174 reported cases from January 1 to July 27, 2024.
This marks a substantial increase compared to the 1,045 cases reported during the same period in 2023.
The most affected areas include Passi City, Lambunao, Dingle, Oton, Badiangan, Calinog, Dumangas, Janiuay, Miag-ao, and Barotac Nuevo.
Health officials are urging residents to maintain cleanliness and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites to curb the spread of the disease.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are working to implement measures to control the outbreak and protect public health. (ILKHA)
