Iraqi court dissolves PKK-linked parties

The decision comes after a complaint from the National Security Agency, which claimed the Yezidi Freedom and Democracy Party, the Democratic Struggle Front Party, and the Tavgari Azadi posed a threat to national security due to their links to the PKK.

An investigation backed by multiple government agencies concluded that these parties were indeed affiliated with the banned group and involved in illegal activities within Iraq.

The court's action is in line with the 2015 Iraqi Political Parties Law, which prohibits parties from operating under foreign influence or association with outlawed organizations. As a result, the parties' headquarters will be closed, and their assets seized.

In a related development, the Iraqi federal government has mandated that all state institutions officially label the PKK as a "banned organization" in all formal communications. (ILKHA)
