Hezbollah launches major retaliatory missile strike on Israeli targets
Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement launched a massive missile strike on targets in northern Israel early Sunday morning, targeting the Al-Jalil region and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
According to local sources, the barrage of rockets was fired from southern Lebanon in response to recent Israeli attacks on villages in southern Lebanon, particularly Kafarkala and Deir Saraya, which resulted in civilian injuries.
Hezbollah's statement confirmed the targeting of the occupied town of Beit Hillel with dozens of Katyusha rockets for the first time. The rockets triggered warning sirens in 15 towns across northern Israel and the Golan Heights.
While the Israeli government has not officially confirmed the attack or disclosed details about damage and casualties, local media reported that several rockets struck Beit Hillel, causing a fire at a military base in the area. Some sources indicated that at least 50 rockets were fired toward the Al-Jalil region.
This attack is part of an ongoing series of retaliatory strikes by Hezbollah against Israeli targets over the past 10 months. Following the outbreak of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent Israeli military actions in Gaza, Hezbollah, in coordination with Palestinian resistance groups, began targeting Israeli military bases and intelligence installations in northern Israel.
Hezbollah’s missile and drone attacks have inflicted significant damage on Israeli military infrastructure, causing casualties among soldiers and prompting Israeli settlers to flee areas near the Lebanese border. In contrast, Israeli strikes have targeted residential areas in Lebanon, resulting in civilian deaths.
In a recent speech, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned that the group would not remain silent in the face of Israeli aggression. His remarks followed the assassination of prominent Hezbollah members by Israeli forces.
Nasrallah emphasized the determination of the Axis of Resistance to intensify their efforts against Israel. Analysts and former senior Israeli commanders have acknowledged Israel’s challenges in the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah, describing the group as more formidable and prepared than Hamas, and recognizing Gaza as a quagmire for Israeli occupation forces.
