Turkish Coast Guard rescues 124 irregular migrants pushed back by Greece
The Turkish Coast Guard has reported rescuing 124 irregular migrants, including 37 children, off the coast of Aydın in July.
The migrants were intercepted while attempting to cross to Greece in rubber boats and life rafts.
According to authorities, the migrants had been pushed back by the Greek Coast Guard and were in distress when found. Despite ongoing efforts to deter irregular migration, incidents continue to occur in the waters near Didim and Kuşadası.
Following their rescue, the migrants underwent health checks and were subsequently transferred to the Aydın Repatriation Center.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea, continuing their operations against illegal crossings and providing necessary assistance to those in need.
