Iran vows revenge for assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has declared that Iran views it as a duty to avenge the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
In a message issued on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei extended his condolences to the Palestinian people and Haniyeh’s family, mourning the loss of the resistance leader who was killed in an attack on his residence in Tehran earlier in the day.
"The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our beloved guest inside our house and made us mournful, but it paved the way for a harsh punishment to be imposed on it," the Supreme Leader stated.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised Haniyeh for his unwavering dedication to the Palestinian cause, highlighting his sacrifices and his lack of fear towards martyrdom, noting that Haniyeh had already lost many family members in the struggle for resistance.
The Iranian state television confirmed Haniyeh’s death, emphasizing that an investigation into the assassination is ongoing and results will be announced in due course.
No immediate response has been made by Israel regarding the assassination. (ILKHA)
