Ankara to hold funeral prayer in absentia for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
A funeral prayer in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), will be held today at Hacı Bayram Mosque in Ankara.
The Palestine Solidarity Platform announced the ceremony, expressing condolences for the martyrdom of Haniyeh, who was formerly the Palestinian Prime Minister and a key leader of Hamas. The platform's statement emphasized Haniyeh's dedication to the cause of a free Palestine and noted that many of his family members had also been martyred.
"Former Palestinian Prime Minister and Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh, most of whose family members were martyred for a free Palestine, was martyred in a treacherous attack. 'We belong to Allah and to Him we will surely return.' Today, following the afternoon prayer, we will gather at the Hacı Bayram-ı Velî Mosque in Ankara for the funeral prayers and prayers in absentia,” the statement read.
All residents of Ankara are invited to attend the funeral prayer in absentia to honor Haniyeh's memory and express solidarity with the Palestinian cause. (ILKHA)
