Masoud Pezeshkian inaugurated as Iran’s new president
Masoud Pezeshkian has officially taken over the presidential office from interim president Mohammad Mokhber.
The handover took place on Sunday morning, following Pezeshkian’s endorsement by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a ceremony held at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Hosseiniyeh, Ayatollah Khamenei endorsed Pezeshkian as the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with Article 110 of the Constitution.
“I endorse His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” stated a decree by Ayatollah Khamenei, which was read out by the chairman of his office.
Pezeshkian’s endorsement marks the beginning of his presidency as he takes on the responsibilities of leading the nation. (ILKHA)
