Turkish Coast Guard escues 21 irregular migrants pushed back by Greek forces

Upon receiving information about a rubber boat carrying irregular migrants off the coast of Izmir, the Turkish Coast Guard Command promptly dispatched teams to the area. The rescue operation successfully brought 21 migrants to safety.

In addition to the rescue, the Turkish Coast Guard conducted operations in Urla, Seferihisar, and Menderes districts. Utilizing a Coast Guard Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and the Coast Guard Mobile Radar (MORAD-13), authorities apprehended a total of 119 irregular migrants in these areas.

Following standard procedures, the rescued and apprehended migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions and challenges in the Aegean Sea, where numerous migrants attempt to cross from Turkey to Greece, often facing perilous conditions. (ILKHA)
