The Hamburg Islamic Center, which has a 70-year history and is considered a significant institution for the Shiite community, was the target of the inspections, leading to widespread criticism.

In a statement posted on his X account, Baqeri Kani described the actions taken by German authorities as an affront to the principles of freedom of religion and thought. He emphasized that the Hamburg Islamic Center, established by the esteemed Ayatollah Boroujerdi, is a valuable legacy for Shiite Muslims worldwide and should not be subjected to such scrutiny.

“This action is a gift to extremists, the violent, and those who support terrorism,” Baqeri Kani stated. He further criticized the move, suggesting that it serves the interests of those seeking to divert attention from critical issues, including the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli regime. Baqeri Kani remarked that the Israeli government had also welcomed the German police's actions, which he views as a deliberate attempt to support extremist agendas.

Baqeri Kani asserted that the German government bears responsibility for the repercussions of what he described as an unwarranted and violent act. He reaffirmed Iran's commitment to supporting the promotion of Islamic-Iranian thought and civilization, and the rights of Muslims and Iranians globally, including those residing in Germany. “The Islamic Republic of Iran, together with the Islamic Ummah and Iranians abroad, stands firm in defending these values and rights,” he concluded.

The German inspection has sparked significant controversy and backlash, highlighting ongoing tensions related to religious freedom and international diplomatic relations. (ILKHA)
