Türkiye's vehicle registrations see 2.5% year-on-year increase in June

Motorcycles led the registrations, accounting for 50.2% of the total, followed by cars at 38.1%, small trucks at 6.7%, tractors at 3.1%, trucks at 1.2%, minibuses at 0.4%, buses at 0.2%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.1%.

The number of vehicle registrations in June showed a 14.6% decrease compared to May. Specific categories saw significant drops: truck registrations fell by 41.2%, buses by 39.1%, minibuses by 38.9%, special-purpose vehicles by 34.3%, small trucks by 24.2%, tractors by 22.7%, cars by 15.2%, and motorcycles by 10.5%.

Compared to June of the previous year, vehicle registrations increased by 2.5%. Notable increases included minibuses (22.7%), motorcycles (11.6%), and cars (0.2%). However, declines were seen in special-purpose vehicles (36.4%), trucks (24.6%), tractors (22.4%), small trucks (18.7%), and buses (11.9%).

By the end of June, the total number of registered road motor vehicles reached 29,987,701. Cars made up 52.5% of the total, motorcycles 18.8%, small trucks 15.3%, tractors 7.4%, trucks 3.3%, minibuses 1.7%, buses 0.7%, and special-purpose vehicles 0.3%.

In June, 676,083 road motor vehicles were transferred, with cars accounting for 64.4%, small trucks 15.1%, motorcycles 13.8%, tractors 2.6%, trucks 1.9%, minibuses 1.6%, buses 0.4%, and special-purpose vehicles 0.2%.

A total of 75,797 cars were registered in June. The most popular brands were Renault (12.5%), Chery (10.3%), Fiat (9.0%), Citroen (5.6%), Volkswagen (5.6%), Hyundai (5.3%), Peugeot (4.7%), Opel (4.4%), Toyota (4.2%), Honda (3.9%), Skoda (3.8%), Dacia (3.5%), Mercedes-Benz (2.8%), Ford (2.6%), BMW (2.2%), MG (2.1%), Nissan (1.8%), Seat (1.5%), Kia (1.3%), and Audi (1.0%). Other brands made up 12.1%.

From January to June, 1,261,001 road motor vehicles were registered, marking a 19.2% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 8.4% to 13,509. Thus, the net increase in motor vehicle registrations during this period was 1,247,492.

Among the 508,801 cars registered in the first half of the year, 65.2% were gasoline-fueled, 12.9% were hybrid, 12.4% were diesel, 8.4% were electric, and 1.1% were LPG-fueled. By the end of June, the total registered cars included 34.9% diesel, 32.6% LPG, 29.6% gasoline, 1.8% hybrid, and 0.8% electric cars. Cars with unknown fuel types made up 0.2%.

In the January-June period, 31.9% of the 508,801 newly registered cars had engines of 1300 cc or less, 21.7% had engines of 1401-1500 cc, 17.6% had engines of 1301-1400 cc, 13.8% had engines of 1501-1600 cc, 5.9% had engines of 1601-2000 cc, and 0.7% had engines of 2001 cc and above.

Grey was the most common color for newly registered cars in the January-June period, making up 38.6% of the total. This was followed by white (25.3%), black (13.0%), blue (11.6%), red (6.3%), green (2.7%), orange (1.0%), yellow (0.6%), purple (0.5%), and other colors (0.4%). (ILKHA)
