Demir voiced strong concerns about the prevalence of stray animals in public spaces, particularly citing incidents where numerous people have been harmed in attacks each year. He highlighted the increasing insecurity in streets and parks, stressing that these areas should be safe for children and families.

"The law proposal for stray animals is currently under discussion in the commission," Demir stated. "This issue poses a serious threat to human life and health, and it must be addressed promptly. We have an opportunity now to tackle and resolve this problem without allowing it to be exploited by certain groups."

Demir expressed a viewpoint rooted in religious principles, advocating for the humane treatment of animals while asserting that dogs should not roam freely on the streets. He proposed that stray animals should either be adopted into homes or housed in shelters.

"The strong expectation of society is to reclaim our streets and parks, ensuring their safety for our families and children," Demir concluded.

The debate over the proposed legislation continues to unfold amidst varying perspectives on animal rights and public safety concerns across Türkiye. (ILKHA)
