Iran dismisses allegations of plotting Trump's assassination

The denial comes amidst allegations from US media sources that intelligence had been obtained regarding such a scheme.

Nasser Kan’ani, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, stated on Wednesday that Iran categorically denies any involvement in or intention to carry out an armed attack against Trump. Kan’ani labeled these accusations as politically motivated and lacking any basis in truth.

Despite refuting the assassination claims, Iran remains committed to pursuing legal avenues to hold Trump accountable for his role in the 2020 assassination of General Qasem Soleimani. Soleimani, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), was killed in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport, an action authorized by Trump.

Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations responded to the US media reports by dismissing them as unfounded and driven by malicious intent. The mission reiterated Iran's stance that Trump should be prosecuted for ordering Soleimani's assassination, emphasizing Iran's commitment to pursuing legal justice in the matter. (ILKHA)
