Trump names Pro-Israel James David Vance as 2024 running mate
Former US President Donald Trump, who is set to run as the Republican candidate in the upcoming November elections, has announced James David Vance as his vice-presidential pick for 2024.
Vance, 39, previously a vocal critic of Trump, once likened him to "America's Hitler." However, since entering politics in 2022, Vance has shifted his stance to become a staunch Trump loyalist.
A US military veteran who served in the US Marine Corps during the Iraq War in 2005, Vance has criticized US foreign policy, calling promises made by the foreign policy establishment "a complete joke."
As Trump's running mate, Vance opposes the Biden administration's Ukraine policy, criticizing it for lacking a clear plan. He strongly supports Israel, describing himself as a supporter of the "Zionist regime's actions in Gaza" and advocating for continued US assistance to Israel.
Regarding civilian casualties in Gaza, Vance places blame on Hamas while expressing sympathy for those affected. He has also criticized the Biden administration for not securing the release of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas.
In response to pro-Palestinian protests at US colleges, Vance has called for stronger measures against such demonstrations. (ILKHA)
