Mehmet Karaaslan, who was martyred on the Bosphorus Bridge (July 15th Martyrs Bridge) during the coup attempt, was honored by his loved ones and party members in a ceremony at Bahçelievler Kocasinan Cemetery. The delegation recited the Holy Quran and prayed for Karaaslan.

Speaking at the graveyard, HUDA PAR GAB member İnan Sur said, "Eight years ago today, we are at the grave of our brother Mehmet Karaaslan, one of the writers of the July 15 epic. May Allah accept his martyrdom. Imam Hussein, the master of martyrs, has a saying: 'There is no bondage for a community whose school is martyrdom.' May Allah have mercy on our martyrs who remind us of the concept of martyrdom at certain intervals. If lessons are learned from history, these events will not repeat themselves. Eight years have passed since July 15th. During this time, some of the perpetrators of this event received sentences. However, no one has been able to touch those who played these puppets. Still, the bases of Kürecik and Incirlik, as well as the political formations that support these unnamed and unknown organizations in Türkiye, are still standing. As long as these are not taken into consideration, history will repeat itself again."

Author Faruk Kuzu also spoke, emphasizing the significance of martyrdom. "Martyrdom is never something to hold back. It is a range that people of faith try to run to. The Karbala incident is a very sad event, but it is a factor that has kept the ummah alive for a thousand years. Martyrdom is not granted to everyone. It is Allah's will. To be worthy of that appreciation, it is necessary to work hard and strive. One of the common characteristics of martyrs is their dedication to the religion of Allah (swt). As martyr Mehmet Karaaslan's fellow martyrs, we strive to enter the school of martyrdom. We do not accept the term 'martyr of democracy.' These are martyrs of Islam and the Qur'an, and they sacrificed their lives for the lands of Islam. Do we call the martyrs of Gallipoli the martyrs of the republic? No. The martyrs of Gallipoli are martyrs of Islam. Unfortunately, the martyrs of July 15 were called martyrs of democracy by the press after they were martyred. We do not accept this."

The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the July 15 coup attempt and reinforced the party's commitment to honoring their martyrs. (ILKHA)
