Prophet’s Lovers Foundation compares Gaza to Karbala, urges Muslim support
The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation issued a message on Ashura Day, commemorating Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala while drawing attention to Gaza as the contemporary Karbala.
Yakup Kaya, a board member of the Foundation, read the message, starting with a verse from the Holy Qur’an that commands Muslims to fight in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed.
Kaya emphasized the significance of Ashura, noting that while the month of Muharram contains blessings for several prophets, it also witnessed one of the most painful incidents in Islamic history—the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Highlighting the Battle of Karbala, Kaya described it as a moment when the Islamic Ummah fought for dignity, honor, justice, and freedom in the cause of Allah (SWT). He remarked, “Even today, there are people who follow Imam Hussain’s path to oppose oppression and captivity, among whom the Gazan people are the most distinguished.”

Drawing parallels between historical Karbala and modern-day Gaza, the message referred to Gaza as “the contemporary Karbala.”
Kaya reminded the audience that Zionists are continuing their massacres in Gaza with the backing of evil powers, while the brave people of Gaza are fighting to uphold the honor and dignity of Islam, just as their leader Imam Hussain did.
He concluded the message by urging all Muslims to support these brave people. Additionally, Kaya reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to remain sensitive to the contemporary Karbala and to support the people of Gaza by every means possible.
The month of Muharram is described as a time of mercy and blessing, but also of pain and suffering. The remembrance of the Karbala incident, which deeply affected Islamic history, brings forth both sorrow and solemn reflection. (ILKHA)
